Be Germ Safe When Visiting Eden Gardens - Flu Season is Here Again

The influenza virus spreads from one person to another in the spray from coughs and sneezes or through contamination of the hand by secretions. Influenza symptoms can include fever, headache, muscle pain, runny nose, sore throat, extreme tiredness, and cough with symptoms beginning one to four days after the first exposure. Fever and other symptoms may last seven to ten days, with the cough and weakness lasting up to two more weeks. It also weakens your immune system, sometimes leading to pneumonia or bronchitis.

Eden Gardens will be providing all Elders and staff with a flu shot. Families and volunteers are strongly encouraged to also get immunized. Public flu clinics are available each year and will be listed here as dates become available.

If you are a caregiver to an adult who is assessed as incapable of giving informed consent to be immunized, you will need to fill out the consent form.

If you are unsure if you qualify for a free flu shot, please contact your family physician or local pharmacy for more information.

NoroVirus and Respiratory Influenza at NTL

In the event of an outbreak of NoroVirus, Respiratory Ifluenza or other GI related outbreak at Eden Gardens we recommend families visit only if necessary. If a visit is necessary, please enter using the front door, check-in at the nurses station and please stay in the Elders room. These measures help contain the bug/virus and help ensure that it is cleared-up as quickly as possible. By following these measures you are helping to ensure that your family member is safe during an outbreak. The staff at Eden Gardens appreciates families cooperation.
